Who we are
A Trust representing the whole Gospel family
The Gospel Ex Scholars Association (GESA) is a registered Charitable Trust (Registration No. 1514, incorporated 11 June 2026 under the Charitable Trust Act 1945) representing former and current scholars of the Gospel Schools family in Suva, Fiji — comprising Gospel High School, Gospel Primary School Samabula, Gospel Primary School Valelevu, Gospel Kindergarten Samabula, Gospel Kindergarten Valelevu, and the Gospel Deaf School.
GESA exists to advance education, relieve hardship among former scholars and their families, uphold Christian values, and support the continued growth of Gospel Schools — spiritually, academically, and physically.
Our history
Built on prayer, before it was built on land
Gospel Schools began not with bricks and mortar, but with prayer. For years before 1961, a group of committed Christian men and women dreamed of a school that would serve Suva’s children academically while introducing them to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In 1961, that vision became reality. With approval from the Department of Education and a land lease from the Ministry of Lands, construction began on a site that was, at the time, a scrub-covered hill and rice-growing swamp. With support from the Christian Brethren Assemblies of New Zealand and volunteer builders S. Collings, R. Hill, D. Stevens and Brian Stokes, the first four classrooms were completed within a year — opened completely debt-free, a powerful testimony to God’s provision.
Mr Daniel Sharan became the school’s first Head Master, supported by early teachers Mrs N. Jaganath, Mrs J. McAndrew and Miss C. McCarthy. Demand quickly outpaced capacity, leading to double-session classrooms and continuous expansion through the 1960s and 70s.
As primary graduates struggled to secure places in other high schools, the Board made the bold decision to establish a Secondary Department. Gospel High School was born, led by founding Principal Mr Ben Goodall, and later by Mr T.G.A. Albrecht (1969–75, 1980–84) and Mr D.F. Stormer (1976–79).
Four classrooms rise, debt-free, on faith alone.
Silver Jubilee — 25 years, Kindergarten to Form 6.

Blue Sapphire Anniversary — 65 years and counting.
Our motto and spirit
Faith, Knowledge, Service
This motto captures the enduring conviction of our founders — that true education is inseparable from faith in God, and that all knowledge gained must be lived out through service to others.

Governance

GESA operates under a formal Constitution, registered under the Charitable Trusts Act, Cap 67. It outlines our governance structure, financial accountability and membership requirements, ensuring transparency and integrity in all our work.
